OVERVIEW
Just imagine ... a roller-coaster ride on traffic-free roads through beautiful valleys to sub-tropical ancient lush rain-forests and wide, crystal-clear rivers, only to find yourself a few hours later facing mighty ice glaciers and majestic snow-capped mountains. Starting from the serene Canterbury plains and Garden City of Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand, ride alongside the Southern Alps to mighty Aoraki Mount Cook. Then ride to Dunedin to explore the Otago Peninsula and this historic city. The Southern Scenic Route then takes you via The Catlins to Invercargill, home of Burt Munro and The World's Fastest Indian. At Te Anau ride to Milford Sound for a cruise around the Fiords. We suggest you stop for at least two nights in the adventure capital of the southern hemisphere, Queenstown. More awesome riding along west coast through to the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers. Then ride to sunny Nelson to explore The Abel Tasman National Park. Travel through the vineyards of the Marlborough regions and Blenheim for winetasting to Kaikoura for whalewatching and to the peaceful thermal hot alpine springs of Hanmer for soaking away any aches and pains.
You'll be riding over 3000 kms during this 14 Day Self Guided Motorcycle Tour of New Zealand's Beautiful South Island. PLUS if you want some more, 3 Rest or Ride days to do even more.
